Recently I have been thinking a lot about what “good” HTML (and/or XHTML) actually is. I have been surprised by noticing that a lot of people seems to be thinking that their HTML is good as long as they’ve passed the Markup Validation Service at W3C. Sometimes they also add “and if my site renders well in all browsers”.
I think that kind of statement is wrong!
I know this might be the news of yesterday or even last year to a lot of people. But I still like to submit a tiny post for those who, like me a couple of weeks ago, haven’t heard nothing about this great little thing called Dropbox. If you already got it or know everything about it you can stop reading now. And no, I’m not getting payed for writing this.. I wish I was though..
The use of dummy text and especially lorem ipsum-text is widely spread. Never heard of lorem ipsum before? Well here’s a explanation of the whole thing stolen from Wikipedia.
In publishing and graphic design, lorem ipsum is common placeholder text used to demonstrate the graphic elements of a document or visual presentation, such as font, typography, and layout. Substituting dummy text for meaningful content is called “greeking”, as in, “to greek the text”.
In this article about making your web site faster I will commit to the sinful act of “throwing around beavers inside the log house” (old swedish saying). Clearly speaking; some of those tips are not implemented on this page for various reasons. That does NOT mean that these tips are hideously bad or that you shouldn’t try them out yourself. Ok? Good! Let’s get started:
